Coron Town
Coron has a fascinating history that dates back to pre-colonial times. According to legend, Coron Island was formed by a giant octopus that was killed by a brave warrior named Tagbanua. The octopus' tentacles became the limestone formations that surround the island today. Coron was also a site of resistance against Spanish colonization in the 16th century. The Tagbanuas fought against the invaders and preserved their independence until the 20th century.
